Mat-AltarNomads Golf was first established in South Africa 1960. As its members were drawn from various clubs and played their regular competitions on a variety of different courses, the Nomads name seemed particularly appropriate.

Nomads Golf Flourished in South Africa and a club was established in Zimbabwe. There are now three clubs on Zimbabwe which operate under the umbrella of the controlling Zimbabwe body.

Nomads Golf in Zimbabwe holds its National Tournament annually and has field of up to 240 players.

The Nomads Movement has also spread to Botswana, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Swaziland. Today there are close to 3000 Nomads spread around our clubs, all committed to our ideals of benefiting the game of golf and, in the process, raising substantial funding for causes that lend support for those less fortunate than ourselves.

16th January 2022.

Greetings Fellow Nomads,

A very warm Zimbabwean greeting to you all!!!Wishing you all a healthy and successful 2022.

Despite the Covid pandemic we are going ahead with the arrangements for the “The Duiker Nationals” and my committee are full of energy and hard at work putting this tournament together. It is our hope and belief that the recent pandemic will have passed, and we can get on with our lives.

On behalf of the National Chairman, Julian Borcherds, it gives me great pleasure to invite you all to the 2022 Zimbabwe Nationals Tournament dubbed “The Duiker Nationals”.

Dates                     :               29th April – 2nd May 2022

Venue                    :               Royal Harare Golf Club

Hosts                      :               Mashonaland Nomads

Royal Harare was founded in 1898 by a group of intrepid golf lovers, who played on conditions far removed from the lush course that we know today. The course was established on the current location in 1901. The original course with its “sand greens” was very differently laid out to the current design. Originally known as Salisbury Golf Club, the club was granted Royal Patronage in December 1929. The name changed to Royal Harare Golf Club in 1980at Independence.

The beautiful Parkland layout that you see today with Duiker and Impala roaming has been a result of years of innovation and vision on the part of the founders and current membership. In 1979, Golf Digest voted Royal one of the fifty best courses in the world, outside of the United States. It has held the Zimbabwe Open which is part of the sunshine tour 17 times, famous winners include Vijay Singh, Mark McNulty, Nick Price and more recently Jbe’ Kruger.

Despite the manicured lush appearance, Royal Harare is indeed no pushover especially with 83 well positioned bunkers, the course rewards shrewd shot choice and course management. Many a golfer has been lulled into carelessness by the veneer of ease that the course projects only to be humiliated. Play wisely and you will be rewarded!!!

Entry fees have been set at US$120.00 per player and US$60.00 for spouses or partners. Entries close on the 1stApril 2022.

Your entry fee includes the following:-

  • Green Fees for 3 rounds of Golf
  • 3 x Dinners + Snacks at Flag Raising
  • 3 x Halfway House meals
  • Goody bag + Goodies
  • Golf Playing Shirt.

Please fill in the attached entry form and forward to your co-ordinator with the entry fee.

Covid Protocols–at this stage we are still under strict Covidprotocols which we must adhere to:-

  • Curfew – 9.00pm -6.00am.
  • Showering at Royal Harare –currently we are not allowed to shower at golf clubs after our Nomads game and our prize giving is done in playing kit.

We are hopeful that as we get closer to the Tournament date the protocols will be relaxed and we can adhere to the timetable given in this letter. However, if not than we will have to bring the times forward in so far as the prize giving is concerned.
