Borrowdale Brooke Game 6 on 2nd June, 2019.
Dear Fellow Nomads,
Greetings to all Nomads and their families. Those of you who played at the Brooke, the golf course was in the best condition we have seen it in for some years.
We had a field of 115 players with 1 prospective 6 guests and 2 no-shows.

The Brooke game was kindly sponsored by our own members, Garikayi Bera and Pride Masamba and both Nomads were each presented with a Nomads Certificate of Appreciation.

Many thanks go to the General Manager of Borrowdale Brooke Golf club, Simon Herring and his team for all the hard work they put into the club and in particular the course.
Simon expressed gratitude to host Nomads Mashonaland and apologised for the absence of the Borrowdale brooke golf Club Captain and his Vice captain as they were away on very pressing business elsewhere.
He also wittily apologised for the “slow” greens on the day which were only running at an eleven on the stimpmeter!

Our Nomads ladies Alison, Lynne and Alana you coped fantastically well considering the multi-currency change we had implemented for this game as we thought we were transitioning back to US Dollars going forward. We can never say thank you enough for your contribution to our monthly meetings. You really make it happen for us, the registration, compilation of results, raffles etc.

The ladies’ dedication to Nomads, particularly for no remuneration, is amazing and we are truly blessed to have these ladies looking after us at every monthly game.

To our starters who are always there to see us tee-off on time. Honorary Member, Gordon Mackenzie and Honorary Life Member Greg Pozzo, you did so well gentlemen and we are forever grateful for your contribution to our great Club.

ON THE SICK LIST.
Ben Ajidah is still recovering. We are hoping that he will come back to golf very soon.
Warren Stead suffered a broken ankle on 1st January whilst in the U.K. and he too is recovering quite nicely. He is now able to walk without crutches and has started physiotherapy. He’s hoping to start playing golf again soon.
Anton Botha had a work related injury to his hand which is healing steadily.
We wish these gentlemen a speedy recovery. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Should anyone of you know a member of Nomads who is sick, please kindly inform the Captain or any of the Committee members.

Pat Cornish gave a very good and hilarious fines session with his particular sense of humour, he finished off with a few practical jokes that went down well with the audience.

Many thanks to Pat for a fantastic, humorous and thoroughly enjoyable fines session and as usual you made quite a few people part with lots of their Zim$s with smiles on their faces.

looking for a new faces to do a fines session at one of our games, so please if you feel you can extract some money from our fellow Nomads and still leave them with a smile on their face, which isn’t a difficult job, then please speak to our Public Relations Officer, Shane Zangel.

Tawanda thought it prudent to catch his tears by using his new towel as a bib, however no tears were shed as seen.
Tawanda took his prize in good spirit as is the purpose of the infamous Crying Towel, or was it the knowledge he would be getting 2 shots back at the next game…..

GARY PLAYER COMPETITON.
Excerpt from our coordinator’s email: “The competition is definitely starting to heat up and we are down to the last 16 teams in each. Notably last year’s finalists and winners all remain in the competition, clearly meaning to be there at the end. All the best to all the teams in making it through to the quarter finals and beyond.”
Thank you Richard Morgan for your stellar efforts in keeping this competition exciting for all those involved.
The closing date for the third round has been set at 7th July, 2019.
ZIMBABWE NATIONALS.
The Zimbabwe Nationals will be held at the Royal Harare Golf Course, in Harare on 1st May to 3rd May, 2020, with the flag raising ceremony on 30th April 2020 and flag lowering on 3rd May, 2020.
BOTSWANA NATIONALS.
The Botswana 2019 Nationals invitation along with the Entry Form has been circulated to the members with the dates of Thursday 12th September to Saturday 14th September 2019. The entry Fee is P1450.00
Mashonaland has been allocated 27 places. Kindly send your entry form to the National Vice Chairman, Julian Borcherds, by no later than Monday the 15th July 2019.
SWAZILAND NATIONALS.
The 7th Swaziland nationals will be held at the Royal Swazi Spa’s championship golf course, at Ezulwini Valley, in Swaziland from 18th to 20th October, 2019.
The closing date for completed entry forms to be submitted to the Nomads National Coordinator, National Vice Chairman, Julian Borcherds was Friday 14th June, 2019.
UP-COMING GAMES
Our 7th game, which is the next monthly game, will be an afternoon game at ZRP Golf on the 7th July, 2019.
Our second away game at Bindura scheduled for the 30th June has been postponed after consideration of;
- the complex financial situation prevailing in the country
- the uncertainty surrounding the recent monetary policy changes passed and
- the unknown total cost to members in attending the Bindura away game
The amended date for the game will be communicated once it is felt that there is a bit more clarity on matters that affect members.
The calendar of game fixtures for 2019 has been posted on the Nomads Mashonaland website for your information.
WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY

It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of Mr Bhupendrakumar Ratanjee Gulab on Saturday, 8th June, 2019. Bhupendra was 65 years old.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Gulab family and pray that the good Lord gives them strength as they go through the pain of this loss.
The late Bhupendra Gulab joined Nomads Mashonaland in January, 2007 and left at the end of 2017, making him a member for 11 years of good standing.
Bhupendra Gulab will be missed by all who knew him, both on and off the golf course.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Nomads Golf was first established in South Africa 1960. As its members were drawn from various clubs and played their regular competitions on a variety of different courses, the Nomads name seemed particularly appropriate.
