Captain’s Newsletter,
Royal Harare game 3/2016 – February 14th, 2016.
Dear Fellow Nomads,
I am sure you will all agree that this Royal game saw most us playing with a completely different temperament to the one at Ruwa. Having said that even a five star course like Royal did not mean that it was any easier to play out of the rough – assuming you found that little white thing!
Royal Harare Course
The condition of Royal Harare was, as usual, top drawer provided you did not venture into the rough! – immaculate greens and fairways in fabulous condition. Nomads would like to thank Ian Mathieson, his greens committee and staff for the excellent work they do in maintaining Royal’s record of being the leading golf course in Zimbabwe.
Thank Yous.
Match Secretary, Alison Clark, and her team of ladies, Madeleine Sly, Nicky Rick and Lyn Tapson, were at Royal Harare golf Club well before 9.30am to start setting things up for the game. I am sure you all appreciate what the Nomads Ladies do for us. Thanks very much Alison, Madeleine, Nicky and Lyn.
Our starters, Gordon McKenzie and Ben Mukandi, made sure the first guys hit their drives promptly at 11am as was asked of them.
We must, of course, not forget our hosts. I had the privilege of playing with the Royal Captain, Dr Chris Hokonya whilst Vice Captain, Clever, was entertained by his new Royal counterpart, prospective and vice captain, Masimba Chandavengerwa
I would like to thank young Barry Bakewell for making his Fines Sessiontimeous and humorous. Thanks for translating Steve Cochrane’s English humour into an acceptable Royal Harare format. If you feel that you might be able to do Fines sessions in future then please speak to our P.R.O., Nyasha Chinhara.
Monthly Sponsor – Health International
Many thanks to our monthly Sponsor, Health International, for once again sponsoring one of our monthly games. Please speak to Denis Tapson if you need any cover for medical insurance
Sick List.
Every month we give details of those Nomads who are, for one reason or another, not well enough to play in our monthly game. Those of you that know any one of them well should make the extra effort to contact and or see them to make them feel that they too are part of our “team”. In February these included the following Nomads: Billy (Hubbly Bubbly) Knox, John Twiggs, Roy Waterworth, Max Karombo, Ben Mukandi, Lyall Wittstock and Stephen Kada. Please let me know if there are others that I should know about.
Royal Results.
Richard Morgan is the Nomads Committee member who will be updating our Nomads Zimbabwe website this year. He will be working closely with our Match Secretary, Alison Clark, to ensure that Tee off times for the next match are placed there a few days before the game. This is, therefore, yet another reason why late withdrawals or entries for our games will be frowned upon! If you have not put your name down for the Royal game please do so now.
Results and photos from each game will be placed on the website, http://www.zimbabwenomads.co.zw/ soon after the particular day. We would like to encourage anyone who has taken good photos or has suitable stories to contact Richard 0772-436-642 This email address is being protected from spambots. Next Game

Nomads Creed
Are you one of the many Nomads that cannot recite the Nomads Creed on your own? Here are the words for you to learn it!
No Man is an Island entire of itself
Every one if a piece of the continent; a part of the main.
Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind
And, therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee
Nomadically yours
Mike Garden
