mashonalandPicNomads Golf was first established in South Africa 1960. As its members were drawn from various clubs and played their regular competitions on a variety of different courses, the Nomads name seemed particularly appropriate.

Nomads Golf Flourished in South Africa and a club was established in Zimbabwe. There are now three clubs on Zimbabwe which operate under the umbrella of the controlling Zimbabwe body.

Nomads Golf in Zimbabwe holds its National Tournament annually and has field of up to 240 players.

The Nomads Movement has also spread to Botswana, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Swaziland. Today there are close to 3000 Nomads spread around our clubs, all committed to our ideals of benefiting the game of golf and, in the process, raising substantial funding for causes that lend support for those less fortunate than ourselves.

                                                                CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER

RUWA GAME- 15TH JANUARY 2017

Dear Fellow Nomads,

We had a total of 113 players, 1 prospective and 8 guests. There were 2 no shows reported but on checking with them on why they did not pitch for the game they both said they had not booked to play. We had 13 early leavers. We thank you all for playing and attending prize giving which shows your support and respect for our sponsors.

Monthly Sponsor

Marsh Insurance were our Sponsors for this game and they were represented by their Managing Director Sam Nyamhamba and Marketing Manager Patrick Murambadoro. I happened to play with Sam ,despite the rains we really had a fantastic day. I am not going into detail about how we played because you all now know that our fourball won a prize.Winning is winning.

Nomads Mashonaland would like to sincerely thank Marsh Insurance for their generous sponsorship, particularly so given the prevailing economic challenges in Zimbabwe and as usual we urge our members to please support them as they support us.We are very grateful to Marsh Insurance and we hope and trust that our relationship will result in some significant business rewards to your organization.

Ruwa Golf Club

The Ruwa Golf Course is always challenging to a lot of us especially this time of the year when it is wet, no run and the rough is thick. Thank God it drains very well despite the continuos heavy rains over the weekend it was still playable. I know that the course condition may not have been satisfactory to some of our members, but we are happy that management and all concerned really tried to make our day enjoyable. I am sure that our visit as Nomads makes a big difference to the game of golf at Ruwa Golf Club and that should give us a lot of satisfaction.

Thank Yous.

The book in table was as usual ably manned by our Nomads ladies Alison, Lyn and Juddy. We sincerely thank them for coming early morning in the rain to assist us with the administration of our monthly game at Ruwa. It is really good to know that we have such a committed and competent team of ladies who are always there to welcome us and stay the whole day to ensure that our day goes according to plan.

Thank you very much for your time and patience, we are forever very grateful for what you do for Nomads.

We were also privileged to be joined by Bev Holmes,Shirley and Natasha Jonker. Thank you ladies for gracing our day.

We thank and express our sincere appreciation to the Ruwa Golf Club Captain Pasi Sithole and his Vice Advance Dundundu for spending the day with us and their efforts in ensuring that service was fairly satisfactory although we believe that there is still room for improvement in this regard.

Our starters for the day Honorary Life Member Greg Pozzo and Rod Bunnett ,despite the incessant rains you were there early morning to ensure that the first ball was off on time. Gentlemen we salute you and very much appreciate your contribution to Nomads Mashonaland.

Fines Session

Past Captain Mike Finnigan had a humorous fine session laced with some true story crakers which got almost everybody in the room laughing. Weldone Mike for a fantastic fines session, it was like all those fined paid with a smile on their faces, it was great. We very much appreciate your effort and support to our great Club.

Sick List.

Our Match Secretary Alison Clark is not feeling well and we wish her a speedy recovery. If you know of any Nomad not feeling well please advice me, Julian Borcherds or any Committee member so that we can visit or call to see how they are doing. It makes a big difference to them, knowing that we remember them during difficult times.

Gary Player

We have started taking entries at Ruwa and will continue to do so at our next game at Wingate. Entries into this competition is free and allNomads playing members are encouraged to participate. Please note that entries will close after the Wingate game. Meanwhile Richard Morgan is happy to forward the entry form to you on request, so please feel free to contact him on E-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. We have taken note of the concerns raised by last year’s winners about the competition and we will do our best to improve on the concerns.

Induction of New Nomad

We inducted 1 new Nomad into our special club at Ruwa.

Gerald Gondo is 35 years old and is the Managing Director for Riscura Zimbabwe. Gerald is a member at Royal Harare and plays off a handicap of 23. He is married to Tashinga and they have one daughter Tayana.

We would like to welcome Gerald to Nomads Golf Club and trust that his membership will be long, interesting and mutually beneficial.

Overdue Membership Subscriptions

We note with regret that upto now some of our members have not yet paid their annual subscriptions which are now long overdue. We therefore strongly appeal to these members to please regularize their membership as they will not be allowed to play because they are members not in good standing.

Nomads Creed

No Man is an Island entire of itself

Every man if a piece of the continent; a part of the main.

Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind

And, therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee
