NOMADS WINGATE GOLF CLUB GAME CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER-5TH NOVEMBER 2017
ATTENDANCE
We had a total of 128 players with 2 prospectives and 9 guests and I am very happy to report that no no show was reported, but unfortunately we had 15 early leavers. This was our last monthly game for 2017 playing calendar and 27 members made all 12 games which is very commendable.
Being my last newsletter, on behalf of the Executive Committee and my own behalf I would like to sincerely thank you all for your wonderful support for the year, with average playing fields of over 120 players with 90% attendance at prize giving. It was just great and we are forever grateful.

WINGATE GOLF CLUB MANAGEMENT AND STAFF
When we realized that it was not going to be possible to have our monthly game at Sherwood as scheduled, it was not difficult at all to say let us go to Wingate because of the effort the Club management and staff put in preparing for our meetings. As usual the course was in a fantastic condition and the food and service was excellent. We sincerely thank Di Fyn and her staff for all they do for Nomads Mashonaland.
I happened to play with the club representative Paul Hopcroft and we had a wonderful golfing day. I note that in his vote of thanks speech Paul may have used bad language and I am pleased to advise you that I have since received a letter of apology from him and I have duly accepted his apology.
Your Committee believes that we had a very successful meeting and thank you once again to Wingate Golf Club for their hospitality.

Incoming Captain Julian Borcherds was confirmed and Theo Kumalo was duly elected as Vice Captain for 2018. AS usual all other matters discussed will be in the minutes which will be circulated to all. The club is in a sound condition in terms of both membership numbers and financials.

NOMADS MASHONALAND 3RD AWAY GAME – 18TH NOVEMBER 2017 MONT CLAIR HOTEL AND CASINO- A total of 24 members travelled to Nyanga for this away game, which was disrupted by the heavy rains and cold weather. We ended up making it a nine- hole Competition because of the wet conditions, which made it very difficult to continue playing. It made sense to sit by the fire place in the bar especially for us the elderly guys, the young members took it as a challenge and continued to play.
Despite the bad weather it was a very enjoyable outing. We sincerely thank Montclair Hotel and Casino Management for their Hospitality and Prize Sponsorship. The Nomadic Spirit was as usual awesome.
FINES SESSION
Patrick Cornish demonstrated that experience is the best teacher when he nailed all those who have not supported our FDFF initiative so far, Thabani Dhliwayo for missing eight holes at Swaziland Nationals and Elwyn Mudungwe for trying to improve his handicap by scoring 19 points in Swaziland and 20 points at Wingate, maybe my brother just lacks talent.
Well done and thank you Patrick, it was a hilarious fines session.
