mashonalandPicNomads Golf was first established in South Africa 1960. As its members were drawn from various clubs and played their regular competitions on a variety of different courses, the Nomads name seemed particularly appropriate.

Nomads Golf Flourished in South Africa and a club was established in Zimbabwe. There are now three clubs on Zimbabwe which operate under the umbrella of the controlling Zimbabwe body.

Nomads Golf in Zimbabwe holds its National Tournament annually and has field of up to 240 players.

The Nomads Movement has also spread to Botswana, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Swaziland. Today there are close to 3000 Nomads spread around our clubs, all committed to our ideals of benefiting the game of golf and, in the process, raising substantial funding for causes that lend support for those less fortunate than ourselves.

CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER

NORTON MONTHLY GAME 4TH APRIL 2017

Dear Fellow Nomads,

We had a field of 117 players, with 2 prospective members and 4 guests. We had 7 early leavers. We thank you all for coming to Norton to play and above all for attending prize giving, it is very much appreciated. Our visit to these small Clubs makes a big difference to their survival, so special thank you to all who made it to Norton, this shows the true Nomadic spirit.

MONTHLY SPONSOR

This monthly game was kindly sponsored by our Norton based Members Soul Rukatya and Captain Vitalis Muzenda. We all know that the current economic environment is very tough for both individuals and companies, so their generosity is very much appreciated by us all at Nomads Mashonaland. We sincerely thank you gentlemen for your support.

NORTON GOLF CLUB

The course was obviously not in a fantastic condition but was playable. I am sure that all who played will agree with me that a lot of effort was put in preparing the course for our game. These small clubs have limited resources so our meetings there means a lot to them and we should derive comfort and satisfaction for our contribution towards their survival, which is consistent with our furtherance of golf objective.

Special thank you to our PRO Theo Kumalo for his effort in coordinating the preparations and making sure that our meeting was a successful one.

THANK YOUS

-Our table ladies Alison, Lyn and Judy, what can I say? We sincerely thank you for coming up to Norton so early in the morning to assist us with the administration of the game. Your contribution is very much appreciated by all of us at Nomads Mashonaland.

-Our starters for the day Honorary Life Member Greg Pozzo, Honorary Member Gordon Mackenzie and Rod Bennett, gentlemen your contribution to Nomads is immense. You make sure the day starts as per plan which is great and we are forever grateful for your commitment and effort.

- We thank and express our sincere appreciation to the Norton Golf Club Captain Tawanda Chiwuta and his Vice Salimu Karemela for joining and spending the day with us. Their effort in preparing the course and ensuring that service was satisfactory was appreciated by all.

FINES SESSION

Many thanks to Doug Jefrey for a short and sweet fines session. He made us know that the going was tough on the green for most of us, and for Honorary Life Member Corrie old age may be kicking in. Well done Doug and thank you for your effort.

SICK LIST

We have the following members on the sick list Raymond Munyaka, Stan Matiza and Sam Moyo. We wish them all a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them at our future games.

Please take time to visit or call to see how they are doing. It makes a big difference to have colleagues visit or call when you are down and out.

If you know of any member who is not feeling well please let me, Julian, Alison or any member of the Executive Committee know so that we make sure we keep in touch with them.

ALL AFRICA JUNIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT AND ZIMBABWE OPEN GOLF

As usual the Tournament organizers kindly asked Nomads and we accepted to assist with the scoring at these two golf tournaments which were recently held at Royal Harare, and superbly executed. I would like to say thank you very much to all those who gave up their time to assist, special thank you to Gordon Mackenzie who coordinated our efforts in this regard.

It was disappointing though to note that not many new Nomads Members were visible at these two events. Gentlemen this is what Nomads is all about we expect you to make some sacrifice to support Nomads programmes.

Well done Gordon and your team, you have done our Club proud.

Special thank you to Delta and Nortic Trucking for sponsoring drinks for the Nomads tent during the two events.

No man is an island entire of itself

Every man is a piece of the continent ; a part of the main.

Any man ‘s death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind
